A MORE FLEXIBLE APROACH TO SELF CATERING

These self-catering vaction rentals can be enjoyed as hideaways for couples, but also prove a good base for family holidays in in the country: for weekends, or for longer.

In fact, if attending an event in the area, and needing pied-a-terre, a weekend in a cottage may be a good alternative to serviced accommodation: you can stay the night before, and the night after (no checkout time on a Sunday morning...) and you need not eat out. For larger groups it is often more economic.

And we understand that not everybody wants a cottage for a full week, and not everybody wants to cook all of their own meals when they're on holiday.

So we have flexible holiday periods for our cottages as follows:

  • Friday-Friday (7 nights);

  • Friday-Monday (three night weekend);

  • and Monday- Friday (four nights during the week).

And it might be nice to know that you can have breakfast or dinner at Soulton Hall, only a short walk/drive away if you decide not to cook .

Cottage Setting Soulton Hall

Each of the cottages has its own garden and a well-equipped fitted kitchen (dishwasher, fridge freezer, microwave etc) for self catering, but guests are very welcome to take their meals at Soulton Hall, allowing for a very flexible approach to your stay at Soulton.

THE KEEPER'S COTTAGE

The Keeper's Cottage (pictured below) is an enchanting cottage tucked away in the south facing corner of Soulton Wood and enjoying a open country aspect. Accessed off half a mile of private lane which passes Soulton Brook and winds through Soulton Wood.

The stone core of the cottage dates from the 1500s, but benefits from brick and timber extensions. From the sitting/dining room - which opens onto the private garden - with its open fire, guests can observe the plentiful wildlife and the total quiet of this secluded location.

While the cottage is big enough to accommodate six (two double rooms and a twin room), it is equally perfect for a couple seeking a total escape in a romantically secluded location.

This cottage is particularly magical in bluebell time (April and May) and the vivid Autumn (September and November) when the woodland leaves are golden and scarlet, indeed, during recent heavy snow, a guest discribed the setting as ''Narnian''.

THE HERDSMAN'S COTTAGE

The Herdsman's Cottage (pictured below) is a semi-detached Victorian cottage dating from 1899. It has its own large gardens with fruit trees, lawn and flower beds. The cottage is approached through this garden and there is ample parking close to the house. It is set in the unspoilt Shropshire countryside, with fine views towards both Soulton Brook and Hawkstone Hill. Original features include quarry tile floors. The comfortable sitting room has an open fire place. There is a generous kitchen/dining room. The front door opens on to its own small, very sheltered south facing front garden - a real sun trap.

Accommodation is in three bedrooms: 2 double, and 1 single.
