Soulton Wood is ‘L’ shaped, and Keepers Cottage, is situated in the inside corner of the ‘L shape’, facing south towards Hawkstone Hill. The cottage has a lovely view and enjoys an unrivaled location.
This sandstone cottage, with brick and timber extensions, is known to have existed in at least the fifteenth century. In its time has been home to the Mill Keepers on the estate, and later to Game Keepers.
It is approached along a three-quarters-of-a-mile of well maintained track which passes Soulton Brook.
Accommodation is in three bedrooms: a double room (on the ground floor), a twin room, and a room with a double and a single bed.
The comfortable sitting room has an open fire and a large picture windows looking across the front lawn, across open fields and into Soulton Wood and nearby pond, and provides a very comfortable hide for watching the plentiful wildlife.
The kitchen is fitted with oak units, and its appliances include a dishwasher, a tumble dryer, microwave oven, fridge-freezer etc. Central heating, hot water and kitchen appliances are electric.
The Cottage has a large garden including a lawn and low beach hedges as well as trees and flowerbeds; it opens out into the woodland.
This cottage is a particularly special place in bluebell time (early May) or in the autumn as the leaves turn.
