Restoration and Repair of Soulton Bridge

Careful restoration and repair of this early Thomas Telford bridge will be completed by Shropshire Council in Mid 2018

In November 2017, the 200 year old Soulton Bridge (which carries Soulton Road over Soulton Brook near the site of the manor's adulterine castle of 1135) was seriusly damaged in a road inncident with a lorry,

Below is a picture of the brisge before the incident.

Shropshire Council have committed to carrying out a careful restoration of the brisge (which is Grade II listed), recovering as much origianl stone as possible and securing any replacement from the Grinshill source which provided the stone 20 years ago

This work is expected to be finished by summer 2018.  We have added this article to our website becuse this bridge is much loved locally and we have been recieving inquries about its repair.

Here are some images from the recovery phase; we are happy to report that there were no injuries.
