What a GLORIOUS day of archaeology! Been digging into Shropshire's past in an attempt to find out more about a possible 12th century fortress at @SoultonHall. Today it still stands 2m high and is surrounded by a huge moat. Making some intriguing discoveries already! #SoultonDig pic.twitter.com/X7AEU8NbO5— DigVentures (@TheDigVenturers) 22 June 2019
We were thrilled to welcome Dig Ventures and friends to investigate Soulton Mound and the formal garden remains here.
The dig was covered on BBC Midlands Today, in an item which can be seen here from 14 June 2019 for a short while after broadcast.
Here are some highlights from the dig:

We are still not quite sure what it is and more work requires to be done...
This is the Soulton Lump. It looks very lush on the outside and on the inside may contain the remains of a Matildan fort. 13/10 can’t wait to dig pic.twitter.com/Id65DfJ2Wl— DigVentures (@TheDigVenturers) May 2, 2019
