Our Farm and Woodland

We are lucky in that our enterprises are located in and around our cherished farm.

This continues to be a vital and vibrant part of life here: the rhythms of the seasons.

Within our farming we practice conservation agriculture -- an approach to crop production which puts the health of the soil at the heart of how the land is managed, indeed we are currently conducting research with Oxford and Harper Adams Universities consistent with these aspirations, a conversation we took farward with by Rt Hon Micheal Gove MP as Secretary of State in 2017:

Our farm was also recently visited by BBC Countryfile to talk about soil health:

Below is a video showing the farm at harvest time:

The farm has a number of interesting features within its landscape: from the monumental archaeology of the ancient castle which came before the current hall, to a much loved oak woodland of 50 acres which is a blaze with bluebells in the spring, to extensive lengths of brook and river.  Our guests are warmly encouraged to take an interest in this aspect of Soulton's life, and to explore and enjoy this setting.

lecture from Dr Simon Jefery of Harper Adams University discussing the theory and work done here to reserch soil biology can be founs below:

Our Farm & Local Food

We farm and garden here, and are pleased to be able to serve some of our own food; in addition there are some amazing food makers in our area.
