Walking from the front door: Our private farm and woodland
Soulton Hall is at the heart of a 500 acre estate. This includes 50 acres of ancient oak woodland (recorded in 1086), over a mile of river and babbling brook, as well as the slumbering archaeology of a Norman castle, extensive Medieval gardens, Tudor watermill, and Bronze Age ring ditches.
The land is sensitively managed - also by the Ashton family - under established principals of stewardship and provides a nurturing home to an impressively divers range of wildlife; indeed, we were delighted to recently receive a FWAG conservation award.
The estate provides a good deal of food which is used in the restaurant at Soulton Hall, such as hedgerow fruits (blackberries etc) and game and foul.
Below is a interactive, labeled Google satilite image of Soulton Hall, the cottages and fam, so you can do a bit of exploring!

Over time, we are working hard to be a more sustainable tourism business.
Guests at Soulton Hall are warmly encouraged to enjoy and explore the private estate in which Soulton Hall is set (even if just a brief stole before dinner or after breakfast), there are very gentile walks available on the lanes which run through the farm. The Arcadian setting is tremendously restful.
